Culture of Encounter: Reserve 107 - a film about truth and reconciliation on the prairies

* Culture of Encounter – Viewing of the documentary film Reserve 107: Reconciliation on the Prairies, a story of hope, understanding, and friendship, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Holy Spirit Parish Hall, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon. This short film tells the story of a group of Mennonite and Lutheran settlers north of Saskatoon living on land that was opened to settlement, in spite of it having been allocated as a reserve for the Young Chippewayan Band. Learn how these three groups banded together to overcome injustice; and, to understand the influence this has on us today. Myron Rogal, Diocesan Office of Justice and Peace, will introduce the film and facilitate a short discussion. The film is appropriate for all ages. CWL Saskatoon Diocesan Meeting

  * Catholic Women’s League (CWL) Saskatoon Diocesan Meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 at St Philip Neri Parish, 1902 Munroe Ave., Saskatoon, beginning with Mass at 9:30 a.m. followed by a meeting. Guest speakers are Dianne Anderson, coordinator of the Restorative Ministry Office (prison ministry), and Rob Gents of the Saskatchewan Hospice and Palliative Care Association. Cost of lunch is a free-will offering. All are welcome. We encourage all CWL councils to be represented and to bring as many of your members who are able to attend. Any questions? "In Support of Life" fundraiser

"In Support of Life" Fundraiser 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK. - featuring a dinner, dance and auction (live and silent). This fundraiser supports Fountain of Hope, Teen Aid, the Saskatoon Pregnancy Options Centre and Rachel’s Vineyard. Tickets are $35 or $250 for a table of 8. K of C Council 1517 Pork Loin Supper

* Knights of Columbus Saskatoon Council 1517 –PORK LOIN SUPPER on Saturday, Feb. 16 at St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral in the Bishop James Mahoney Hall, doors open at 5:30 p.m., Supper at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person (children under six eat free). Share Lent Workshop at STM in Saskatoon

SHARE LENT – Diocesan workshop for the upcoming Share Lent campaign in support of Development and Peace: Caritas Canada will be held 7 p.m. to 9:30 pm in Room 260 at St. Thomas Moore College, 1437 College Drive, Saskatoon.   Your RSVP to is appreciated.  Everyone is welcome! Development and Peace continues the global Catholic campaign, Share the Journey, on forced migration. Every minute on average, some 31 people have to flee their homes somewhere in our world. Attend the workshop in Saskatoon to learn more about D&P partner initiatives supporting those forced into migration, and about the campaign and how to be part of it. After discussions between the bishops of Canada and Development and Peace about use of Share Lent funds, Bishop Mark Hagemoen supports parish involvement in this year’s Share Lent campaign.

World Day of the Sick Monday, February 11 The Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon will hold a special Mass to mark the World Day of the Sick at 12:15 p.m., Feb. 11 – there will be a special blessing for all those who are ill.
